What would the world look like if there were true gender equality? How would that differ from today’s world?

“A woman is human. She is not better, wiser, stronger, more intelligent, more creative, or more responsible than a man. Likewise, she is never less. Equality is a given. A woman is human.” ― Vera Nazarian, The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration.

“Just like Vera Nazarian said, I’m a woman too and I’m not better, wiser, stronger, more intelligent, more creative, or more responsible than a man. I’m a human, and here we are in the 21st century talking about “equality” like something that is not even known or something that’s never going to eventually happen…I’m from Kosovo, Prishtinë and we as girls have to face sexism because of our patriarchal society. This is why I’m here to tell you how would the world look like if there were true gender equality and make you believe that we need to do this, to fight sexism and that we’re strong, all of us matter and all of us need to feel free to live our lives without being affected by sexism. I’m willing to be seen and to keep going so please pay attention to this one…

Sixteen springs were enough to teach me what does life mean and what I want from life. The answer is gender equality. I can picture me doing what I want to do, going out whenever I want to, dress whatever I want to and being fully free, living my best life like nobody’s here but unfortunately they’re here, in real life, where the dreams are just “dreams” and the only hope is “me”, me is the one who’s never going to stop fighting for that dream. Waking up knowing that you do matter even if you’re not a man, raising your voice even if you’re not a man. Be your biggest, best most powerful self even if you’re not a man. That’s what the world would look like if there were true gender equality seen from many women’s perspective, but let me remind you what it would mean for humanity, it would mean the definition of life. Just imagine dancing like there’s nobody watching, there’s nobody telling you that you cannot do this just because of your gender, going confidently in the direction of your dreams, creating yourself. And we all know that the greatest pleasure of life is love, so imagine being able to love and share your love knowing that it doesn’t matter if you’re a girl or a boy, knowing that you do not have to despise people just because you don’t have the same gender. This is how I perceive a world with true gender equality. Just be you and remember that everyone has their worth, so you don’t have to break the rules of nature just for attention!”
